Coin Brief ENDE

Four dates from one day of crypto news: 19 October, one month, 1 November and 15 December

Much crypto news is about what might happen. Several items published on 6 October instead set dates, and each has a group of people who must do something before it.

19 October, 12:59:30 UTC: Filecoin. Lotus v1.37.0 is mandatory. Node and storage provider operators must upgrade before epoch 6470279, when network version 29 deprecates Fil+ and freezes the DataCap and verified-registry actors. Operators also have commands that stop working and metrics that may be renamed.

About a month after notification: Bitcoin.de. futurum bank can lodge an objection to BaFin's refusal of its MiCA licence within one month of formal service, which it expects at any time. Meanwhile BaFin's tolerance of its crypto services has ended, and trading on the platform remains largely suspended until a regulated German partner takes over.

Four dates from one day of crypto news: 19 October, one month, 1 November and 15 December — Coin Brief

1 November: Glamsterdam. 24 Ethereum proposals entered Last Call with a review deadline of 1 November. The pull request is explicit that this is a review deadline, not a mainnet activation date, so the people who need to act are reviewers and client teams, not users.

15 December: Abstract. The consumer chain backed by Pudgy Penguins' owner shuts down; funds not bridged off by then become inaccessible. This is the only one of the four where ordinary users lose access if they do nothing.

What the four have in common. None of the dates is new information hidden in a footnote; each is in the first lines of the primary document. They differ in who carries the risk of missing them: operators for Filecoin, a company for Bitcoin.de, reviewers for Ethereum and every remaining user for Abstract.
