Coin Brief ENDE

Samsung Wallet will send USDC abroad on Solana from late October, starting in the US

Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay will support stablecoins on Solana, the Solana Foundation announced on 7 October. Samsung Wallet users in the United States will be able to send money across borders using USDC from the last week of October 2026.

How it works.

  • The feature is built into Samsung Wallet rather than alongside it: a remittance goes out from the same interface users already open for cards, boarding passes and IDs.
  • Fiat on- and off-ramps convert to and from local currency inside the wallet; Solana runs behind the scenes.
  • At launch it reaches 82 million US Galaxy devices, with other markets to follow subject to local regulatory requirements.

What the two sides say. Woncheol Chai, who leads Samsung's digital wallet team, said stablecoins can make moving money around the world faster and easier, and that Galaxy users should get that without navigating the complexity of the technology. Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, said stablecoins had proved the technology works but lacked a way to reach the mainstream.

The figures behind the pitch. The Foundation says stablecoin supply on Solana is up nearly 20% year on year and that the network has processed more than $5.25 trillion in stablecoin volume in 2026. It names PayPal and Western Union as enterprises already using Solana for stablecoins. Those are the Foundation's own figures.

What is not yet said. The announcement names USDC only, does not name the on- and off-ramp provider, and does not give fees or which destination countries are supported at launch.
