Solana's SIMD repository marks 54 proposals as activated on mainnet-beta

The Solana Improvement Documents repository has updated the status of 54 proposals to Activated in a single change, pull request 710, merged on 28 October. According to the commit message, each listed SIMD has its feature gate or gates active on mainnet-beta, verified by reading the feature accounts through public RPC on 26 October and cross-checked against the "Fully Activated" list of Anza's feature-gate tracker. Only the status field changes; SIMD-0083 was left out because another open pull request already updates it.

Many of the proposals had been sitting at Implemented, Accepted, Review or even Idea and Draft while already live. The list includes SIMD-0084 and SIMD-0175, which disable rent collection; SIMD-0207, SIMD-0256 and SIMD-0286, which raised block limits to 50 million, 60 million and 100 million compute units; SIMD-0266, the efficient token program; SIMD-0332 on ChaCha8; SIMD-0385, transaction v1; SIMD-0388, BLS12-381 syscalls; SIMD-0357, the Alpenglow validator admission ticket; and SIMD-0525, which reduces slot times, with a 350 ms feature gate listed.

What it means

This is bookkeeping, but useful bookkeeping: the proposal repository had drifted far behind the chain, so anyone reading a SIMD's status to learn whether a feature was live would have been wrong for dozens of them. The method — read the feature accounts on mainnet, then cross-check a second list — is the right way to answer the question. Developers checking whether they can rely on, say, BLS12-381 syscalls or v1 transactions now have a status that matches the chain.
