rippled #8468 fixes MPT/DEX offer handling: BookStep exceptions and an issuer loop
The XRP Ledger reference implementation, rippled, merged pull request #8468 on 16 October 2026, titled "Assorted MPT/DEX offer related fixes - 1". As the "- 1" suggests, it is the first in a planned series of fixes to how the decentralized exchange (DEX) handles offers involving Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs). The author is gregtatcam, and the PR was opened on 2 October.
The two fixes. The description lists two changes:
- Handle exceptions from
consumeOfferinBookStep.BookStepis the part of XRPL payment execution that walks order-book offers to route a payment; the change makes it handle exceptions thrown while consuming an offer rather than letting them propagate. - Reject an issuer-sourced strand that loops back to its own MPT. A payment path ("strand") that originates from an issuer and loops back to that issuer's own MPT is now rejected, closing a case that should not be allowed to route.

Scope and compatibility. The PR marks its API impact as a libxrpl change — a change that may affect libxrpl or software depending on it — and does not mark it as a new public API feature, a breaking public-API change, or a peer-protocol change. Its test plan is to update FlowMPT_test, the existing test suite for MPT payment flow. So this is correctness work inside payment routing for MPT/DEX interactions, verified by extending an existing test, not a new feature or a protocol-version change.
Because this is one merged PR in a series, the full set of MPT/DEX offer fixes will land across several PRs; anyone tracking the behaviour should follow the series and read FlowMPT_test for the exact cases covered. MPTs themselves are the ledger's native multi-purpose token type, and these fixes concern how offers denominated in them are consumed during payment execution.
