XLS-85 token escrow spec now returns tecNO_PERMISSION when an MPT holding is missing
The XRPL Standards repository has updated XLS-85, the specification for escrowing tokens on the XRP Ledger, to match how the implementation actually behaves for multi-purpose tokens (MPTs). The change, merged on 27 October as pull request 671, is titled "align MPT holding error code with implementation".
In the EscrowCreate rules, the specification previously said that if the destination does not hold the MPT, the transaction fails with tecNO_ENTRY. It now says it fails with tecNO_PERMISSION. The same correction is made in the section on the source account lacking the MPT holding. For IOU tokens nothing changes: a missing trust line with the issuer still returns tecNO_LINE. The text also keeps the rule that a new trust line or MPT holding may be created during EscrowFinish if authorisation is not required.

What it means
When a written standard and the running code disagree on an error code, developers who build against the document get the wrong result. Wallets, explorers and SDKs that branch on tecNO_ENTRY to explain a failed MPT escrow to users should switch to tecNO_PERMISSION. The change is documentation, not a ledger amendment: the ledger already behaved this way, and now the specification says so.
